Maldivian in dialogue to start flights to Mumbai targeted for Indian tourists

Maldivian has revealed that discussions are ongoing to commence flight operations India's Mumbai specifically targeted for tourists.

The State operated airline official detailed that in addition to Mumbai, ongoing discussions also include commencing flights to Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. However, the official did not disclose the date in which the flights to the proposed destinations would begin.

“We are currently engaged in discussions to decide its feasibility and ways to move forward with it if possible. Hence it’s difficult to specify a date in which flights would commence,” official added.

Official also revealed plans to acquire an additional aircraft for flights to the proposed destinations.

“The decision pertaining to introducing the new destinations is still pending. But we are definitely thinking about starting flights to these destinations,” official said.

Maldivian even at present is successfully operating flights to India’s Trivandrum.

Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb claimed that once the flights to Mumbai are commenced, it would increase the number of Indian tourist arrivals in the Maldives. He added that the airline was making preparations for the endeavor.
