Civil Court has ordered Alliance Management Services Private Limited to pay MVR1.5 million as a fine for the delay in tax payment to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
MIRA filed charges against Alliance Management Services to pay the fine for failing to pay bed taxes before the due date for its tourist vessel M.S. Costa Romantica.
Civil Court on Tuesday ordered Alliance Management Services to pay the fine to the civil court within two months from July 17.
Alliance Management Services had refused to pay the fine claiming that the vessel under their agency does not fit the criteria for a tourist vessel and cannot be deemed as such under the tourism law. However, the civil court had ruled that the incoming international tourist vessels will also be applicable under the tourism law.
